Minor Derailment Continues to Affect Train Travel
Eight cars on a CSX freight train with 61 cars derailed Saturday morning, delaying Amtrak service for dozens of passengers, authorities said. The cars, carrying the rock ballast used to level railroad tracks, jumped the tracks at 5:08 a.m. An Amtrak spokeswoman says two trains -- one heading to Chicago and the other leaving Chicago were affected. Passengers were bused from Pittsburgh to Washington. Csease says investigators are looking at the cars, locomotive, tracks and operator in an effort to pinpoint a cause. Investigators were trying to find out what caused the derailment.
