Sinkhole Snags Truck
About 4:30 p.m., the back end of Doucette's five-ton GMC tandem-axle truck was swallowed by a sinkhole about 20 feet long, 10 feet wide and at least 10 feet deep. The truck was loaded with leaves. Spokesman for the city's public works department, said it was too early to tell yesterday what had caused the road to give out. Sinkholes are almost always caused by cracks in the sewer system, often combined with an undetected water main break.
